C’est ta Nou– Let’s Come Together to rebuild our Village
Pointe Michel Reunion carded for October for October 11 to 26, 2008 is an opportunity for us to reunite and rebuild our village. Pointe Michel is located in the Parish of St.Lukes and was well-known as the best fishing village. “Pulling Net” was a famous daily activity in our village. You could smell fry fish, acra and bakes on the stove of almost every home.
Don’t talk about our leadership qualities, afterall we gave birth to the Late Dame Eugenia Charles and many current leaders in Politics, corporations and the Media. Reporters like Matt Peltier and Carlisle Jno Bapiste (also known as Refree Voley) are fruits of the hard labor of hard-working people.
Let’s not even discuss sports because definitely we schooled some of the hottest men on the tracks, fields and pitch. One can’t talk about the foundation of cricket in Dominica without mentioning Joey Peltier.
As for our cuisine, Friday night at Maffos for “shatu water” was a regular Lime. You could find every minister in line waiting for a cup. Today, Melvina’s and our Fish place has tantalized the taste buds of visitors and dominicans.
Afterall, The weekend lime is only complete in Hollywood City where new movies are filmed every day.
Our beloved La Pwent, We have lost some dear ones, old grandma’s and Aunt’s but we still keep the Love Alive.
